Hello,

Everything was better than I could have ever imagined. I would not change a thing about our experience.

Hello Liz,

My husband, Sean, and I decided to plan a trip to Roatan early in the summer (of 2009) for 2 weeks starting in mid-August to celebrate our first wedding anniversary. Shortly after making our decision there was an earthquake and then a coup reported in the U.S. media. The coup on the mainland in Honduras was our chief concern as everything we read in U.S. news publications was warning against all unnecessary travel to Honduras. Needless to say, we were on the fence about continuing our travel plans to Roatan. I bombarded the staff at Roatan Life Vacation Rentals asking for reassurance, and I spoke to members of the U.S. Embassy in Honduras twice. Both groups, both times assured me that as there are never any guarantees for safety when traveling, there had been little to no civil unrest and violence on the island of Roatan. Basically, it was business as usual. My husband and I decided to continue praying for protection as always and go ahead with our plans, and we are SO glad that we did. Once on the island, there was absolutely no indication nor evidence of a coup. We did an island tour one day, but for the most part hung out in West End and West Bay for the majority of our trip. The locals were extremely friendly, and the staff at Roatan Life was very accommodating. I highly recommend traveling to Roatan!

Hope this Helps

Carrie Lynn

I have traveled many times this year to Roatan. As a single American female there is always concern traveling to a foreign country alone. I can't begin to explain the hospitality of the local islanders I have received. They are enthusiastic in showing their island to tourist and those considering making it their home. The island is very laid back and there hasn't been one time I ever felt I wasn't safe. There aren't too many places I can travel alone and feel safe and welcomed. The island is beautiful and I can't wait to make my final trip, my move to the island! I have been renting from Roatan Life for a little over four years now. They have always been helpful and have assisted in finding just the right place for me to stay. I look forward to working with you all in my transition to the good life....life on Roatan, full time! Despite the US State Department warnings, I will continue to travel to Roatan, as I have never seen or experienced anything that put me in harms way while there. There is no unrest on the island, no demonstrations and no protests. I have stayed for many weeks this year, including February (2 weeks), May (2 weeks) and August (three weeks). I plan on returning in the next couple of months as well. This is truly a beautiful island with wonderful people that are warm and welcoming. They always make me feel like I'm at home. I can't wait to get back home again!

Good Morning Mike,

In response to the email we received from Liz Holland, we are happy to provide some information about our recent trip to Roatan which was nothing less than positive.

My family and I rented one of your villas on Half Moon Bay in the beginning of August and we had a great time. The villa was lovely and all of you were very attentive when there were some issues with the back up generator. We explored a large portion of the island on our own with a rental vehicle and visited several very unique places. We enjoyed talking with the local people and never found there to be any problems or issues. We saw several road blocks but by showing our passport and rental car information, the police were very polite and we never had any reason for concern. We felt very safe and never felt that there was any type of "unrest" on the island. Actually, it was quite to the contrary. We learned that the news media in the US perhaps had not fully reported all the facts or the complete story regarding the changes in the local government.

We wouldn't have any problem recommending travel to Roatan. We would return without hesitation. This was the second visit to Roatan for me and my husband, and a first visit for the rest of our family. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip, and again, you all did a great job for us.

We hope this helps. It would be a shame if people would hesitate visiting Roatan due to misinformation.

Thanks again.

To Roatan Life Vacation Rentals:

This note is long overdue. Jonathan, Liz and Mike you are the greatest! You were all so professional, attentive and personable. The service you give to your vacation rental guests is exceptional. I stayed at the Mango House this summer for four weeks and I was so happy with your services. This was my fifth trip to Roatan and I will definately rent through your company again when I visit next summer.

As far as feeling safe in Roatan, even though there was some unrest on the mainland while we were there, we were not affected at all. We felt safe and life in paradise went on everyday as usual. I was there with my daughter, grandson and my 89 yr old father even visited for a week. I'm just so sorry your beautiful island is suffering from all the adverse pubilicity and I hope that any future visitors will realize what a safe and wonderful island Roatan is...See you again in summer 2010.

Hello Ms. Holland-

We are not customers of yours (would like to be sometime) but a friend and business partner of mine Steve Counts has stayed with you before, most recently, a month ago. Steve knew my wife and I were stopping in Roatan on our recent cruise and suggested we come to West End for the day to do our diving. We had visited Roatan the year before on our cruise and knew we wanted to come back anytime we had the opportunity

Our prearanged cab was waiting when the ship docked. Because ship time is 2-hours ahead of Roatan time we had 2-hours to wait until our dive operation opened. We spent the time walking in and around West End. The locals we spoke to were all friendly, not overbearing, rude, or intimidating like in many other Carribean ports such as the Bahamas, Cozumel, Belize, Progresso. We never felt ill at ease in the very least on our two visits to Roatan. I can't make that claim about other Carribean ports we have been to. It is also the most beautiful spot we have seen throughout the Carribean and would highly recomment it to anyone thinking of visiting. The waters and people are the best.

Best Regards,
Greg and Margaret

We visited Roatan in late July. There were eleven of us - two couples and seven children, the youngest at five (see and use pic). Although concerned about the political events, we monitored several Roatan list serves and determined that the Island was unaffected by any unrest and decided to make the trip. We are glad we did. We stayed in West End and had a great time. We did some great dives out of Coconut Tree dive shop and some good snorkeling down Island at West Bay. We made several trips into Coxen Hole for banking and groceries and made a van ride as far east as Punta Gorda. The kids had a good time at Gumba Limba with the monkeys and the mccaws. Everyone we met was helpful, friendly and welcoming. I would recommend the trip to anyone despite the negative slant given Honduran politics. Any problems generally occur in the capital, on the mainland, and are largely sparked by outside agitators. The good folks on the Island are doing what they do best - welcoming visitors to a paradise and making sure they have a good time. We are already planning our next trip.

Our families spent a week in Roatan Aug 8 – 15th 2009. We had been aware of what the news was reporting and had initial concerns so we contacted several businesses throughout the island. We were assured that the news reports were over exaggerated and that Roatan was as peaceful and beautiful as ever and even on the mainland it was business as usual.

We love Roatan and were so happy to take our families to visit this beautiful island again. We decided if the airlines were still flying into Roatan so were we! Once there, we realized how unfortunate the negative publicity was and how it was affecting the local people.

We had a fabulous time in Roatan and it was one of our best trips ever. We felt extremely safe and are currently planning our next trip back.

We loved our stay at the Coral Vista complex and have rented Half Moon Bay house 3 times. We met up with all of our island friends from previous trips and had a blast fishing and snorkeling with Raul and Enry and could always rely on Tex to get us wherever we needed on time and in style.

We sincerely hope that anyone considering a Roatan vacation does not hesitate because it will be one of the most beautiful and memorable vacations you will ever have.

Sincerely,

Liz,

My family had a wonderful time in Roatan last new years (2009). The week was idyllic and we enjoyed our time with our children and their friends. The diving was superb and the food marvelous - so much variety in such a small place. the butterfly garden and our time with the dolphins were highlights. The zip line was a a wonderful addition also. We in fact came back in May for a wedding and got our diving certification and my wife and I are returning this new years (2010) - just renting a cottage to dive some more.

I work in Honduras and sent several groups of students there this summer to work on projects and they all reported having a safe and interesting experience. In fact I have another student going to Copan for a year long project in the next week.

I hope to be able to say hello at the end of December.

Dear Liz,

Once again thank you so much for all your help putting a great trip together in Roatan. It is sad to here that the Island is being negatively affected by the misinformation so prevalent here in the US.

We found all aspects of visiting Roatan safe, friendly and simply beautiful. We truly felt more safe and comfortable in Roatan then anywere we have ever traveled.

Please feel free to have anyone you wish contact me should they have questions regarding Roatan. I would be happy to tell then what a fantastic, safe and peaceful place it is.

Once again, thank you for your help...

We will be coming back...Soon...

I spent the entire month of August in Roatan, had a great time and didn't see anything remotely political and felt very safe at all times. The staff at Roatan Life Vacation Rentals got me a great deal on a nice condo with a plunge pool.

Liz,

We held our family reunion on Roatan in July. We were very pleased with the accommodations, weather and community.

Initially there was some concern about the political situation but since Roatan is an island 35 miles from mainland Honduras we did not change our plans.

Our vacation went smoothly and the politics of the mainland had no effect on our vacation.

We are planning to visit Roatan as a family in the future and have no concerns as the Honduran government has continued to maintain a safe and peaceful country.

We wish to thank you and your staff for all you support and service during our stay on Roatan.

Liz,

My wife and I spent a week on Roatan in August of this year and had a fabulous time. Great food, wonderful diving, warm and welcoming people. In short, a vacation paradise. While we were concerned about the unrest on the Honduran mainland before we traveled to Roatan we were pleasantly surprised that there was no signs of political strive apparent on the island. Life was as peaceful and relaxed as it always is. We had a great week and can hardly wait to return.

Liz,

We came to Roatan August 6th - 13th as a group of 10 people. We saw no political unrest, nothing dangerous, and nothing out of the ordinary

The waters were just as beautiful, the people just as friendly, and the scuba diving even better than we had imagined. Our trip was one of the best we have ever taken, and everything and everyone that we encountered was friendly, kind, and always willing to help. We enjoyed the tropical beaches, great warm water, and excellent hospitality - and never once felt nervous or afraid. The only thing we worried about while we were there was making sure there was a cold drink in the blender and that we had applied enough sunscreen. Roatan was one of the best vacations I have ever been on, and plan on returning as soon as possible.

Thanks,

Sallie Hill

We stayed in House #4 in Coral vista for 2 weeks last July and August. We found the island to be beautiful, the people were friendly, and the politics of the mainland were no where to be seen or heard. We discovered the true story of the so called unrest when the people followed their constitution and removed the president from office. but none of the political issues floated across the ocean to this small, quaint, quiet, and friendly island. We were looking to possibly buy a home in Roatan and we would never consider this if we were not 100% comfortable with the political climate on the island. We will be returning for future vacations as soon as we can. It was a perfect vacation and we fell in love with the island and the people. We have shared our feelings with all our friends and have actually ran into people who have been to Roatan who saw our tee shirts we brought home with us. They also loved the island and are planning to go back soon

We observed many cruise ship snorkeling excursions from our balcony at our house so we know they were still enjoying the island on a regular basis. Out flight was uneventful which did go through El Salvador. Not one problem.
We wish all of our new friends well in Roatan, and hope their businesses survive this press frenzy and returns to normal soon.
Good luck,

Dear Jonathan and Mike,

I wanted to take the time to express my sincere appreciation for all you both did during our two week (7/25-8/8) stay at the Half-Moon Bay House. We truly enjoyed the house and all it offered, in spite of the down wireless and generator. When you brought us large bags of ice to keep our food & drinks cold, when the power went out, I was impressed. Then when the wireless was down and you brought us a back-up network card to use, I was truly appreciative. I'm too uptight in NYC at work to go on vacation and find something to get uptight about, so getting upset about the things I or you couldn't control was not an option.

Roatan Life Vacation Rentals' staff is amazing and worked hard to try to make our stay the best it could be. Pedro, the gardener/pool man/valet/security was great and so was Sonia, the housekeeper. And the two of you worked so hard and late, to make our stay as pleasurable as possible regardless of the situation.

I look forward to staying at another one of your properties sometime soon, maybe April 2010.

All the Best,

In 2008 we were looking into taking a trip to the Caribbean with another couple. We had decided on a location and property when our friend ran into someone on a business trip who said we should look into the island of Roatan. We knew very little about the island and decided to check it out further. After some research we came across the Coral Vista properties located on Half Moon Bay in West End. I called Roatan Vacation Rentals and spoke with Jonathan. He gave us great information which helped us decide to give Roatan a try. Four couples left Texas and headed off to Roatan for the adventure. We were met at the airport by Tex who works with Roatan Vacation Rentals. Tex is a great tour guide and knows a lot of people on the island. When we saw our Coral Vista rental for the first time we were thrilled. The house exceeded our expectations. The location on West End is perfect because you can walk to almost everything therefore not needing to rent a car. The accommodations offer great views, amenities and most of all privacy. Upstairs there are three large bedrooms with each having a private bath and balcony and a 4th bedroom and bathroom on the lower level. This made the house very comfortable for a multiple couple vacation. The house was well equipped and the staff of Roatan vacation rentals are available to assist and answer questions with just a quick phone call. Liz and Jonathan are wonderful and they soon became our friends.

The island itself offers many activities for vacationers. The Scuba Diving is probably some of the best in the Caribbean. There are a lot of dive shops and after careful research we settled on West End Divers, just a two minute walk from the house. We were happy with their staff and their state of the art equipment. Island tours, snorkeling, fishing, swimming, boating, kayaking, relaxing, shopping, eating and drinking are some of the activity options. Some of our favorite restaurants were Pura Vita for pizza, The Argentinean grill for steak, and Mavis and Dixie's for fish. Just give Tex a call and he can arrange practically anything. Don't hesitate to purchase the lobster off the back of one of the local's truck to cook at the house. The state of the art, well equipped kitchen makes cooking a breeze.

Our week went very fast and we all decided to come back to the same house the following year. After a few months back home we booked our second trip this time for two weeks. Once again we were not disappointed. It was like going back to visit our friends who we met the previous year. We hope to make our third trip next year. We all love the island's laid back atmosphere and friendly people. We look forward to visiting again and would highly recommend Coral Vista properties.

Sincerely,

Hi Guys:

We had a wonderful time in Roatan. I swear we drove down every road on that island! The house was wonderful. We spent alot of time reading books on the porch or on the beach. The kitchen was so well equipped that we fixed almost all meals right there. And if it wasn't raining we ate at the table on the porch. We took a kayak out on First Bight, and checked out Parrot Tree Plantation across the way. We went to Half Moon Beach in West End twice and did the SouthShore canopy zipline tour. We found the meat market in French Harbour and got some nice steaks to cook on your big grill. We bought a bag of sugar and Linda whipped up some hummingbird juice and kept them feed all week. I took a couple hundred pictures and Linda is putting together a scrapbook of our trip. We will share it with you all next time we visit. Liz picked us up at the airport and was very helpful in showing us around. Josh delivered our car later that first day. And on our way through SandyBay stopped at the office and introduced myself to Mike Carter. They were all very accommodating.

We met some very nice people at the craft market in Coxen Hole. And we made friends with Penny who owns Serenity gift shop near French Harbour. So thank you very much for letting us share your corner of paradise. Maybe we will be able to go there again some time.

Casa Vista Verde

My wife and I had the pleasure to stay at this house in mid-November 2008.

The house is brand new and situated on a hill that overlooks a drop-dead gorgeous view of the ocean and a quiet, protected bay. We spent a lot of our time here on the patio which overlooks the ocean and is also where the pool and hot tub are located.

The owner did not spare any expense in building, designing and outfitting the home. Every amenity that you could need or even think of has been provided for.

There are 3 "Master" bedrooms and two smaller bed rooms. Every bedroom has it's own bathroom, which are all nicely appointed. (Even the bed linens and bath towels are top notch.......I even considered absconding with one of the bath towels, but it was so thick and fluffy, it would't fit in my suitcase :) ) We had the opportunity to stay in the first floor Master Bedroom, which was very cozy. There is even a huge walk-in closet with mahagany shelving, which allows for plenty of storage space.

Although we didn't turn the TV on the entire time we were there, the house has full satellite TV, as well as High Speed Internet. The entertainment system is state of the art with the capability of blasting your music while you are in the pool!

The kitchen is also well appointed; beautiful custom cabinetry, granite countertops and well-equiped.........we put it to full use and found it to not be lacking for anything.

For those that are looking for activities, there is plenty to do; The Jet Ski was a blast (we had the water to ourselves), there is also Kyaks, a Wind Surfer, Snorkeling Gear, Etc. (The owner informed us that he is looking at purchasing a boat.........nice!)

As for Roatan itself, this was the first time my wife and I had visited. It is known primarily as a Diving destination, as it is surrounded by the world's second largest Coral Reef. However, we were there for a week and didn't dive. (the fact that I don't know how might have something to do about that) The point is there is plenty to do on the island, but in my opinion why would you want to leave this ocean-front, tropical oasis?

As the house is brand new and just opened for business, the beach is still a work in progress. Even Honduras has strict environmental standards as it pertains to their beaches, so the owner informed us that he is working with the local officials to make it into a "sandy beach".

Vista Verde is highly recommended; in fact we are planning our return visit!

Hi Jonathan:

Sorry we didn't see much of you this last week. We found Misael to be very nice and helpful and Liz is just the sweetest person we could ever have met. There certainly are some wonderful people working at Roatan Life. Thanks for sending them our way!

The security guards were doing a fantastic job, good to know that they are on the job. We saw them in different places around the property after dark. It felt like we could relax with them around.

We have looked at a number of different lodgings in the West End area, as you know, and have decided that we want to continue to rent the Casa de Luna on our future visits.

Thanks,
Francis and Jane

Dear Mike:

We wanted to drop you a note to thank you for all of your efforts to-date on assisting us with the purchase of our villa at The Meridian at Lighthouse Point. While this letter may be premature, since we have not gone to closing, we are close and your efforts to-date are truly astounding.

We truly appreciate all the hard work you put in helping us to locate, research, and purchase this property. You're clearly going above and beyond the call of duty in dealing with this purchase and helping us successfully navigate the various issues that arise, since this is new construction and we are unfamiliar with real estate on Roatan.

While we have made trips to the island, they have been minimal since your commitment has allowed us to do most things by email or phone. Without these efforts, there is no doubt we would have had to make additional trips and incur additional costs, as well as the added frustration. When we did make our trips to the island, including our vacation, your help in obtaining lodging, car rental, and even a cell phone to use while we were there was a true blessing. I must also take this time to commend Jonathan Lickstein at your Rotan Life Vacation Rentals office for all his great efforts also.

As we get closer to closing I would not hesitate to recommend Roatan Life Real Estate and Roatan Life Vacation Rentals to anyone.

Again, thank you very much.

Sincerely,
Jim and Loretta Swartz

We rented one of the houses on Half Moon Bay (Half Moon Bay house) for a week and it was perfect.

You couldn't ask for a better location right in the middle of town and steps from all the dive shops. I awoke every morning to a beautiful ocean vista. Snorkelling on the vibrant reef literally just a few feet off the shore was almost as impressive as many of the dive sites. Jonathan and Liz took care of everything including grocery shopping and having the house fully stocked upon our arrival. They had a taxi driver meet us at the airport and "Tex" served as our own personal concierge service while on the island - arranging for day trips, recommending spas and restaurants and getting us to and from anyplace we wanted to be on the island. We had a group of 8 with different interests and we had people zigzagging all over the island.

All the hard work by the Roatan Life Vacation Rentals staff gave me more time to dive and relax on the beautiful beaches. I've been all over the Caribbean and I don't know that I've ever had such a worry-free experience. The house rental was far more economical and practical than the touristy resorts in West Bay, but without sacrificing the services of an all-included. I'm glad I found them. We're already discussing our next trip back to Roatan.

Konor Cormier

We stayed in the Turtle Casa - Beach Suite (6/7-6/14).

I just wanted to drop you a note to let you know how much we enjoyed our stay and especially the service we received from two particular individuals. Liz Holland was a pleasure to deal with. She was efficient, responded to emails quickly and was just plain great. Also, Jonathan Lickstein, who met us at the airport, escorted us to the house, gave us local tips, answered a couple of phone calls, was courteous and respectful and was just generally an all around great guy. He exceeded our expectation of "service" in every respect. In the end, he escorted us to the airport and ensured a smoother return of our rent car and more.
Please extend our personal thanks, especially to these two folks.

When we return to Roatan, we will definitely be contacting Roatan Life. In addition, I am recommending your service to my extended family and colleagues.

Thanks again,

Russ Williams

Dear Jackie [Owner of Dos Vistas House],

My wife and I have just returned from our vacation in Roatan and we felt the need to tell you how much we enjoyed your home. We had heard so many pleasant things about your home from our friends, we just couldn't wait to get there and see it and the island for ourselves. Needless to say we here not disappointed. I am not sure I have seen any thing more spectacular then the view that surrounds your home. It was so mesmerizing my wife literally had to drag me inside where it became abundantly clear how much you must love your home. I say this because it did not matter where I was in your home I was just completely comfortable and relaxed as though I was spending time with a good friend.

We wanted for nothing while we were there, we were minutes from diving, snorkeling, restaurants and if we didn't know where to find something your caretaker Michael was more then accommodating. Again thank you for renting your home to us my wife and I can't wait to come back next year so that we can share your home with our whole family.

Sincerely,

Liz & Jonathan,

Thanks for your help in making our month on Roatan a memorable one. You answered our questions and concerns before we arrived, arranged for airport pickup, gave us an orientation to the island and helped troubleshoot problems that we encountered during our stay. That all helped get us started on our adventure.

We enjoyed the house, beaches, beautiful water, reefs, the laid back atmosphere, and the people we met. All of them were friendly and accommodating. In fact, we enjoyed our stay to such an extent that we have already made our reservation for February 2009 and another month on the island.

We look forward to working with you again.

From the moment we arrived on Roatan, both you and your staff went out of your way to make our visit an enjoyable one. We found the house to be completely stocked with everything we had requested before our arrival and the attention to detail was fantastic! We greatly appreciate your assistance in having a chef come in one night for us and the dinner was fabulous. We are looking forward to our next trip to the Island and will always make Roatan Life our first choice for vacation rentals. Please pass on my appreciation to your entire staff for being so accomodating and professional during our stay.

We found Half Moon Bay House to be absolutely wonderful, everything we expected and more. The large, modern kitchen was furnished adequately for us to prepare dinners when we desired. The house easily accommodates a large family or group.

Fantastic snorkeling was right outside our door, restaurants and shopping were within a very short walking distance and grocery stores very close to the house. We highly recommend Roatan Life Vacation Rentals employees for their superior assistance and desire to meet our needs.

We stayed at your Casa de Luna property from Septemaber 29th through October 6th, 2007.

Our contacts with your company were Jonathan Lickstein and Liz Holland. Liz met us at the airport and took us to our house. Jonathan helped us in a number of ways including rescuing us when we locked ourselves out of the unit on a Saturday night. Both of them made us feel welcomed and went out of their way to make sure our stay was memorable and enjoyable.

We were appreciative of their efforts and wanted you to know what the outstanding service they rendered during our stay. Liz even discovered we had left our camera battery charger and let us know she was sending it to us. Please give them our thanks.

Best regards,

Hi, Gene...

I wanted you to know how much we appreciated your help and attention to detail during our recent rental via Roatan Life. The place you suggested for our nine person group was way over the top. It had an infinity splash pool and a wine cooler and a freezer and a refrigerator and a gourmet cook's kitchen and a flat screen tv with satellite coverage and five bedrooms and three and 1/2 bathrooms and an outdoor shower in a private, walled patio off the master suite and central air-conditioning, but no generator. That was being installed as we were
staying there. It was called Casa De Suenos at Lawson Rock.

We saw hummingbirds every day as they zipped around the flowering shrubbery and a red headed woodpecker several times. We had bananas and guavas on trees in the front yard. There were blooming plants of Bird of Paradise flowers as well as some heavenly-smelling evening bloomer by the kitchen door.

Yup. We're back in Gloucester, MA - safe and sound. We had a great time.

Best wishes,
Chris and Fred Calhoun

Thanks for the great vacation rental. We loved Roatan and Villa Verde. We
understand the that things are not perfect in the tropics and when we had an
issue with our hot water you guys were great getting it fixed the same day.
The rest of the trip was fun, sun and relaxation.

We just wanted to let you know we appreciate the service.

See ya next year.

We had a great time and count Roatan as one of our best trips ever. Your
rental recommendation was the perfect choice for us. Quiet, comfortable and
with beautiful views. Please thank your chef that came to our villa and
prepared the local island meal for us. That was one of the best nights of
our trip and her food was delicious. We will definitely tell our friends to
put Roatan on there list of places to visit.

Hi Michael,

I'm very sorry for not responting your mail earlier, but since my return to Guatemala I've been realy busy at the office. Our stay was magnificent! We realy didn't expected it to be as great as it was. The house is in excelent conditions and one could say that Palmetto is the greatest spot on the island. We had the opportunity to rent a car and explore, but we didn't find anything like Palmetto

Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a Succesfull 2007
